Newton
David
Newton is a classically trained sculptor that has worked on many
public monuments in the north Texas area such as the Freedman's
Memorial of Dallas, along with large commissions for the State Fair
of Texas, and the City of Austin. Mr. Newton received his Masters
of Fine Arts Degree from the New York Academy of Art, and has studied
sculpture in Florence Italy. Mr. Newton has shown his work at numerous
museums and galleries and has won national competitions for commissions,
and a design award from the Texas Association of Landscape Architects
for his work on Freedman's Memorial. He is currently working on
a Veterans' Memorial for the City of Plano, Texas.
Tómas
Bustos
Tómas
Bustos is a native of Dallas, Texas. Mr. Bustos served a seven-year
apprenticeship with the well-known sculptor and artisan Octavio
Medellin. Mr. Bustos' work has been shown at the Dallas Museum of
Art and the Latino Cultural Center of Dallas as well as many galleries
in the Dallas Metroplex. Mr. Bustos has mastered the art of woodcarving,
stone carving, bronze casting, welding, drawing, and oil painting.
Mr. Bustos also learned the art of mechanical animation as an apprentice
and then as a master artisan with the Bill Reed Decorations Co.
of Dallas. His most recent commissions have included fourteen large
murals at Our Children's House at Baylor Hospital, along with a
monumental mechanical zeppelin with animated figures. Mr. Bustos
is currently teaching figure sculpture and stone carving at the
Creative Arts Center of Dallas.

future generations of all citizens of the City of Fort Worth.
